Mouse pointer and Desktop malfuntion of ubuntu 12.04 gust os

I installed ubuntu 12.04 OS via pxe boot (TFTP server) on vmware
workstation 6.5. The host OS is windows 7. Installation was completed and
I can log in to the system on command prompt (No desktop was installed
yet). And then I installed ubuntu desktop using the command sudo apt-get
install ubuntu-desktop. This installation was also completed. Then I re
powered on the VM. At that time, the screen size was small (not full size
or with no enough scroll) and mouse pointing object and the actual
affected object is mismatch. For example, I point "Dash Home" but the
affected area is "firefox browser". If I point "Libre Office Writer" icon,
the effected icon is "Workspaces". I can't see trash icon at all. I think
the desktop size is something wrong. How did it happen to me? I am so
nervous. How to fix this problem.
